In February 2007, the Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in East Harlem was closed against the protests of many parishioners. Back then, six women were arrested for staging a sit-in. But that didn’t stop them: Now, nearly five years later, a hardcore group continues to hold weekly Mass on the sidewalk – come rain or shine.
